Siemens Consortium Wins $292 Million Contract for Cross Island Line Power Supply

19 Aug 2024

Siemens Mobility, in partnership with Concord Corporation, has been awarded a $292 USD million contract by Singapore's Land Transport Authority (LTA) to design, supply, install, test, and commission the power supply system for the upcoming Cross Island Line (CRL). The CRL, Singapore's eighth MRT line, will serve the eastern, western, and northeastern regions of the island.

The consortium's responsibilities include the delivery of a comprehensive power supply system, featuring three intake stations with 66 kilovolt gas-insulated switchgear (GIS) and intake transformers. Additionally, the system will incorporate 22 kilovolt GIS panels, service transformers, and a 1,500-volt direct current system. The design emphasizes modularity, full automation, and readiness for driverless operations.

Michel Obadia, CEO of Siemens Mobility Singapore and Asia Pacific, highlighted the significance of the project, noting that the advanced power supply system will seamlessly connect physical rail infrastructure with digital technologies, enhancing efficiency and reliability.

Construction of the CRL is expected to be completed by 2030, marking a significant step forward in Singapore's transportation infrastructure.
