Shell has launched a new biodegradable transformer oil made with sulphur-free gas-to-liquids technology, designed according to the IEC 60296 specification.

The new oil is a mineral-based transformer oil, miscible and compatible with conventional mineral oils.

Shell Diala S5 BD will be offered at a lower price point than traditional ester-based biodegradable oils, the manufacturer said in a press release.
