Second Offshore Transformer Module installed at Moray East offshore wind platform

21 Aug 2020
SCOTLAND, UK - The second offshore transformer module (OTM) shipped by Siemens Energy has been installed at the 950 MW Moray East Offshore Windfarm project, located 14 miles off the Aberdeenshire coast in Scotland.

The first OTM was supplied by Siemens Energy in July. Siemens will supply a total of three OTMs for the project, and is also in charge of delivering a 22-mile underground export cable to the onshore substation at New Deer in Aberdeenshire.
The third and final OTM platform to be installed at the site is now ready to set sail from Belgium, reports Offshore Wind.
The three OTMs will be linked together and they will transform the output of the wind turbines from 66 kV to the transmission voltage of 220 kV and transmit the electricity to the grid on land.
Moray East project is scheduled for full commissioning in 2022.
