Röchling improves electrical properties of its premium transformer pressboard

17 Jul 2020
HAREN, GERMANY - Röchling Industrial, a German manufacturer of transformer pressboard, has upgraded the electrical properties of its Trafoboard® insulating material to meet the requirements for the construction of modern and increasingly powerful power transformers.

To meet the highest demands on electrical properties the manufacturer developed the phenolic-glued pressboard, which has a very low moisture content and good drying behaviour, the company said in the press release.
The product, which was tested in the high voltage laboratory of the University of Applied Sciences in Osnabrück, also meets the mechanical and electrical requirements for laminated pressboard according to IEC 60763-3 type 3.1 A.2.
The manufacturing process of Trafoboard® has also been further optimised to improve the bonded seam of the insulating material, which allows this insulation material to be used in higher electrical field areas, permitting even more compact transformer design.
