RESA Power Expands into Quebec with SGE Acquisition
RESA Power, LLC, a U.S.-based leader in power systems testing, transformer services, and life extension solutions, has acquired Société Générale d’Électrotechnique (SGE), a Quebec City–based provider of electrical energy solutions.
The acquisition gives RESA Power a strategic foothold in Quebec, home to North America’s largest energy grid, and adds specialized capabilities in electrical construction, engineering, and testing services. The deal also brings in-house manufacturing of medium and high-voltage power transformers to the company’s portfolio.
Kevin Noonan, President of RESA Power’s Canadian business, noted that the acquisition aligns with the company’s growth strategy in Canada, allowing it to serve utility and industrial clients with expanded services. Jean-Yves Côté, founder of SGE, emphasized that the partnership provides resources to scale operations regionally while continuing to deliver Canadian-manufactured transformers.
This marks RESA Power’s fifth acquisition in 2025 and continues the company’s approach to creating regional hubs specializing in comprehensive electrical power solutions. Analysts see the move as a significant step in strengthening North American power infrastructure capabilities, particularly in energy-dense regions such as Quebec.
