Prime Data Centers Commissions 250MW Substation for Phoenix Data Center Campus

Prime Data Centers has commissioned a 250MW substation for its PHX01 data center campus in Phoenix, Arizona, as development continues on the company's planned 240MW facility.

According to the company, the first phase of the substation will provide 144MW of IT capacity to support the initial stages of the campus. The infrastructure is being developed alongside three data center buildings currently under construction on the 66.5-acre site at 3700 S. Avondale Boulevard.

Each of the three buildings will span approximately 267,000 square feet and deliver 48MW of IT capacity. Prime Data Centers said the buildings have already been secured by an unnamed hyperscale customer.

The PHX01 campus is planned as a five-building development with a total capacity of 240MW. Construction has not yet begun on the remaining two facilities, which are available for future tenants.

The Arizona project forms part of Prime Data Centers' broader portfolio of operational and planned developments across the United States and Europe. The company reports approximately 7GW of capacity across markets including Texas, California, Illinois, Germany, and Spain.

The announcement follows a preferred equity investment completed earlier this year by Grain Management in Data Realty Holding Corp., the controlling shareholder of Prime Data Centers, aimed at supporting the company's continued expansion.
