PFIFFNER Group Expands U.S. Operations with New Georgia Facility
PFIFFNER Group, a Switzerland-based leader in energy technology solutions, has announced plans to build a new $18.5 million manufacturing facility in Franklin, Georgia. The project is expected to create up to 60 full-time jobs in Heard County over the next decade.
The new facility, located at Franklin Industrial Park East, will produce instrument transformers for high-voltage substations and transformer bushings for utilities and manufacturers. Operations are projected to begin in 2027.
Governor Brian P. Kemp highlighted the investment as a boost to Georgia’s manufacturing sector and critical infrastructure, noting its role in ensuring a reliable energy grid. Marcel Rüfenacht, CEO of PFIFFNER Group, emphasized Georgia’s strategic location, infrastructure, business environment, and skilled workforce as key reasons for the expansion.
Local leaders, including Franklin Mayor Kevin Hayes and Kathy Knowles, executive director of the Development Authority of Heard County, praised the company’s community engagement and partnerships with schools and technical colleges to support workforce development.
The project is supported by the Georgia Department of Economic Development, the Metro Atlanta Chamber, and other regional partners, reflecting the state’s ongoing efforts to attract international businesses in energy and technology sectors.
PFIFFNER Group operates globally with eight production sites and approximately 1,200 employees, supplying solutions for electricity transmission, distribution, and power generation.
