Peru qualifies 7 groups for power transmission project

PERU -- Six companies and one consortium have qualified to shore up power transmission in the Madre de Dios and Piura regions in a tender organised by the Peruvian investment promotion agency ProInversión.

The potential bidders for the concession to build and operate the 138 kV Puerto Maldonado -Iberia line and the 220/60/22.9 kV Valle del Chira substation are Celeo Redes, Cobra Instalaciones y Servicios, Interconexión Eléctrica, Engie Energía Perú, Acciona Concesiones, Terna Plus and Consorcio Edemsa (Eléctricas de Medellín Ingeniería y Servicios-Eléctricas de Medellín Perú).
The estimated investment for the line is $33.6 million and $17 million for the substation, reports BNAmericas.
The selected manufacturer will have a timeframe of 43 months to complete the transmission line project and 28 months for the substations.
Offers for the contract are scheduled to be submitted in April.
ProInversión also has a process underway for the 500 kV Piura Nueva - Frontera line and recently awarded the 220/60 kV Chincha Nueva and Nazca Nueva project.
On a related note, the Ministry of Energy and Mines of Peru has granted the Peruvian generator and transmission company Engie Energía Perú a definitive concession for a transmission project in the Ica region of Peru. The infrastructure includes the 37-mile, 220 kV Punta Lomitas - Derivación line and associated substations.
