Peru approves $981m Transmission Plan 2021 – 2030

PERU - The Ministry of Energy and Mines (MINEM) has released the Transmission Plan 2021 - 2030, which includes 11 projects with the aim of improving the quality, reliability and safety of the National Interconnected Electric System (SEIN).

The 2021 - 2030 plan includes 11 projects with a joint investment of $981 million, of which six are Trunk Transmission System projects for 836 million, while another five projects are framed in the Connection Transmission Facilities (ITC) for $145 million.
Among the Trunk Transmission System projects, the following stand out:
  • $486 million 500 kV Huánuco - Tocache - Celendín - Trujillo Link Project, extensions and associated substations,
  • $234 million 500 kV Celendín - Piura Link Project, extensions and associated substations,
  • $54 million 220 kV Ica - Poroma Link Project, extensions and associated substations.
The second list of projects comprises the Connection Transmission Facilities (ITC), defined as those that connect the facilities in the demand areas with SEIN facilities. Among such projects are:  
  • $42 million SE Lambayeque Norte 220 kV Project, including the sectionalization of the 220 kV Chiclayo Oeste - La Niña/Felam transmission line, extensions and associated substations,
  • $35 million 220 kV Piura Nueva - Colán Link Project, extensions and associated substations,
  • $37 million 220 kV Cáclic - Jaén Norte Link Project (2 circuits), extensions and associated substations.
The agents interested in building and operating the facilities included in the Transmission Plan 2021-2030 projects will have a non-extendable term of thirty (30) calendar days from the Plan's entry into force to express their interest in building and operating said facilities, for which they must be subject to the provisions of the current Transmission Regulations.
