Pennsylvania Transformer Technology Expands Manufacturing in Hoke County
Pennsylvania Transformer Technology (PTT) announced plans to expand its manufacturing operations in Raeford, Hoke County, with a $102.5 million investment that will add 217 new jobs. The company specializes in power and distribution transformers for electric utilities, municipal power, renewable energy, and industrial markets.
The expansion includes 300,000 square feet across two existing facilities. Governor Josh Stein and N.C. Commerce Secretary Lee Lilley attended the groundbreaking, highlighting North Carolina’s skilled manufacturing workforce and growing clean energy sector.
“North Carolina’s workforce and business environment make companies like PTT want to grow here,” said Governor Stein. Secretary Lilley noted that manufacturing supports every sector of the state’s economy and emphasized the local impact of new jobs in Raeford.
The announcement comes amid continued growth in North Carolina’s clean energy and advanced manufacturing sectors. Recent projects include Scout Motors Inc., which will create 1,200 jobs in Charlotte, and Toyota’s $12.9 billion battery plant in Liberty, bringing 5,100 jobs to the region. These investments align with the goals of the North Carolina Energy Policy Task Force, established to manage energy demand while promoting economic development and environmental sustainability.
PTT, which first entered the North Carolina market in 1992, aims to strengthen its role in the state’s clean energy economy through this latest expansion.
