10 Apr 2019

PANAMA - Panama's state power transmission company Etesa received offers from two of five prequalified groups to build and operate the country's fourth main power transmission line, estimated at approximately $300 million.

The bidders for the 500 kV Chiriquí Grande-Panamá III project that will stretch some 186 miles were Consorcio InterPanamá (ISA-Galed Services) and China Electric Power Equipment and Technology, reports BN Americas.

The winner of the 20-year contract, which may be extended for another 20 years, will have 42 months to complete the project, which will initially operate at 230 kV.

Etesa also extended bidding to build the 230 kV Panamá II-Chepo line to May 14.
