Oman Signs 10 Deals for Transformer Manufacturing
Oman has signed 10 agreements to localise the manufacturing of electrical transformer components, with planned investments of about $39 million.
The agreements, signed under the “Localize it: From Vision to Partnerships” initiative, involve four local SMEs and six local and international companies.
The projects will establish seven new factories and add production lines at two existing facilities. They will manufacture 10 transformer components across sites covering up to 34,000 square metres, with production expected to begin in 2027 and 2028.
The initiative is led by the Public Services Regulatory Authority (APSR) in cooperation with Voltamp Energy.
According to APSR, the projects are intended to strengthen Oman’s local electricity-sector supply chain, reduce reliance on imports and support technology transfer, workforce training and employment.
The agreements are part of Oman’s broader efforts to develop domestic manufacturing and supply chains under Oman Vision 2040.
