Nine Bulgarian Transformers to Aid Ukrainian Energy Recovery
Bulgaria will provide nine transformers to help restore one of Ukraine’s power plants, according to the Ministry of Energy.
The decision followed discussions between Traycho Traykov, caretaker Minister of Energy, and Olesya Ilashchuk, Ambassador of Ukraine to Sofia. The equipment, previously decommissioned in Bulgaria, will be reused to support the Ukrainian energy system.
The Ukrainian ambassador acknowledged the assistance and highlighted its role in restoring critical infrastructure. The talks also addressed the importance of gas corridors for supply security. The Trans-Balkan Gas Corridor was noted as an example of infrastructure that strengthens Ukraine’s energy security.
The initiative is part of broader support provided through the EU Civil Protection Mechanism, which includes both humanitarian and financial aid.
