Nigeria to set up power transformer factory and high voltage testing lab

18 Oct 2019

Nigerian government has formed partnership with China that will see more than $307.5 million invested in three projects critical to addressing Nigeria's power needs - power transformer production, establishment of a high voltage testing laboratory and setting up of a solar cell production facility.

According to Mohammed Haruna, Executive Vice Chairman of the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI), the first Nigerian-made power transformers should be launched in 2020, when the plant is expected to start production, reports PM News Nigeria.

60 Nigerian engineers and technicians are currently undergoing training in China to gain knowledge of transformer technology, production, installation, and maintenance.
