Niagara Peninsula Energy Launches $35M Substation Project
Niagara Peninsula Energy Inc. has broken ground on the Spring Creek Transformer Station in Lincoln, marking the start of construction on a new $35 million electricity infrastructure project aimed at increasing local grid capacity and improving long-term reliability.
The project was officially launched on May 22, 2026, with participation from municipal officials, project partners, and company representatives. Once completed, the facility is expected to support rising electricity demand driven by residential, commercial, and industrial growth in the region.
According to the company, the new transformer station will enhance system reliability, increase capacity, and strengthen the local distribution network to ensure continued service stability as electrification and development accelerate.
Igor Rusic said the project represents one of the most significant infrastructure investments in the company’s history and is intended to prepare the grid for future growth across Lincoln and surrounding communities.
Construction of the Spring Creek Transformer Station is being carried out by Black & McDonald. The project is expected to be completed in 2029.
Local officials also emphasized the importance of the investment in supporting regional expansion, housing development, and economic activity, noting that additional electrical infrastructure will be required to meet future demand.
