New Zealand utilities to install new asset management solution

21 Jun 2019

AUCKLAND, NEW ZEALAND - Two New Zealand utilities will upgrade their traditional Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems with an Advanced Distribution Management Solution (ADMS) from GE.

Top Energy Limited and Northpower operate electricity networks in the Mid and Far North and the Kaipara and Whangarei Districts of Northland in New Zealand's North Island.

The new systems will provide operators with better information to support decision making on the network, especially during storm response and major incidents, enabling predictive analytics to enable automation of routine tasks and real-time monitoring of the network and critical assets.

Top Energy CIO Gordon Ramsay noted, "The provision of real-time flags showing the predicted location of critical faults as they occur on the network will improve decision making when diagnosing faults, leading to quicker restoration times."
