BOULDER CITY, NEVADA - Upgrades to Boulder City's electrical system have begun as installation of the new backup power transformer is scheduled to start next week.

The $1.1 million transformer which will back up the city's power supply and increase the reliability of the entire system was delivered more than a year ago, but a leaky part that was discovered in July delayed the start of the project.

Installation of the unit is scheduled to start the week of November 11 and be completed in March.

Once energized, the new unit will be in standby mode until needed in an emergency.
