New Port Jervis substation to enhance electric service reliability

3 Dec 2019

PORT JERVIS, NEW YORK - New York-based Orange & Rockland (O&R) utility is planning a $38.2 million substation construction project aimed to enhance electric service reliability.

According to O&R, the new Port Jervis substation would offer more switching options to help restore service interruptions more quickly and allow the utility to better integrate renewable energy and advanced technologies onto the power grid, reports Daily Energy Insider.

The company has secured all required regulatory approvals and environmental permits for the project and is planning to begin construction this month.

The substation is expected to become operational in June 2021.
