New compact transformer station for metropolitan use

29 Mar 2019

European transformer manufacturer SBG-SMIT and Thai transformer company CharoencChai developed a new model of the SGB's Lahmeyer-Compact-Station, for the Thai market and other urban areas in Asia.

The new compact substation called LCCS1-Slim for short is intended for metropolitan use and has 500 kVA transformer capacity including medium-voltage switchgear and low-voltage distribution, at only 900 mm wide, the company press release said.

This makes the distribution station primarily recommendable for use in densely populated cities.

After a six-month development process and subsequent production, the LCCS1-Slim successfully passed the internal arc test in the Siemens test laboratory in Frankfurt am Main.
