New 750 kV Ganz Transformer Powers Hungary’s Szabolcsbáka Substation

2 Dec 2024
Ganz has announced the successful commissioning of its first 366.7 MVA, 750 kV single-phase, oil-insulated, auto-transformer, now operational at Hungary's Szabolcsbáka substation. This milestone marks a significant achievement for the company's Power Transformers Division.

The transformer, commissioned on November 27, 2024, is part of a three-phase system with a combined capacity of 1100 MVA. It serves as a critical component at the Hungarian endpoint of the EU's only 750 kV transmission line. Two other Ganz units of the same specification complete the system.

During activation, the transformer demonstrated exceptional performance, operating with minimal noise levels--a testament to Ganz's engineering standards. The project involved the extensive efforts of the company's Power Transformers Division, encompassing design, manufacturing, delivery, installation, and commissioning.

This installation reinforces the importance of Szabolcsbáka substation in Hungary's electricity network and highlights Ganz's commitment to delivering advanced solutions for high-voltage power systems.
