Tytsjerk, NETHERLANDS - The transformer had previously been supplied by water from Schiedam to a temporary unloading quay.

TenneT has announced that during transport to the Louwsmeer high-voltage substation (Tytsjerk, Friesland), a new 220 kV transformer fell over due to a currently unknown cause. The transformer had previously been supplied by water from Schiedam to a temporary unloading quay. For the last 1000 meters (0.62 miles), the transformer is placed on a specially equipped truck.

According to TenneT, the day before, an old broken transformer was removed from the same station on the same route to the unloading quay to be shipped for recycling. Fortunately, there are no injuries. Together with transporter Wagenborg Nedlift, they are investigating the cause and the further approach.

According to the company, Louwsmeer station has been and will be expanded in the coming years as part of the grid reinforcement of Westelijk Friesland, including extra transformer capacity.
