New 110MVA Transformer Installed in Lagos, Nigeria, to Boost Power Reliability

22 Jan 2025
A newly installed 110MVA transformer at the Isolo Transmission Substation in Lagos, Nigeria's largest city and commercial hub, promises to improve electricity reliability for local businesses and residents.

This upgrade is designed to tackle frequent power shortages, which have long disrupted small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and industries in the area. With more reliable energy, businesses can reduce operational costs and increase productivity, contributing to local economic growth.

The project was made possible through a partnership between the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN). Officials emphasized that this transformer is a key part of efforts to modernize power infrastructure in Lagos, a city of over 20 million people and a critical driver of Nigeria's economy.
