Nepal Electricity Authority Receives Eco-Friendly Transformers from Ekarat Engineering

3 May 2023

Kathmandu, Nepal - The Nepal Electricity Authority has received a set of advanced and eco-friendly electric distribution transformers from Ekarat Engineering Pvt Ltd.

The transformers are equipped with modern communication tools, allowing the authority to remotely monitor their condition and receive real-time updates on any malfunctions or failures. They are designed with Germany's MR Company's advanced 'Vacuum Unload Tap Changer' technology and incorporate vegetable oil produced by the American company Car-Gil, making them highly eco-friendly. The transformer is worth approximately Rs 3.2 million and has been installed at the NEA's main office premises located in Ratnapark.

The use of natural oil ensures automatic voltage regulation and balance, and increases the transformer's capacity to dissipate heat, reducing the risk of catching fire. This transformer is a significant step towards sustainable and safe electricity supply in Nepal. An agreement was signed between the NEA and Ekarat Engineering Pvt Ltd in August last year for the production and installation of transformers, and the NEA has stated that they can help prevent various incidents that could occur during the electricity supply process and can also be installed on the same utility pole.
