The Niger Delta Power Holding Company Limited (NDPHC) has successfully implemented 374 projects in the distribution subsector of the Nigerian Electricity Supply Industry (NESI) with the aim of enhancing power supply across the nation. According to Engr. Ifeoluwa Oyedele, the Executive Director of Networks at NDPHC, these projects represent a significant investment of over $1.2 billion, and the cost is expected to be reimbursed by the benefiting electricity distribution companies (DisCos).

The executed projects encompass a range of critical infrastructure, including 337 33/11kV lines, 25,281 25kVA and 50kVA CSP transformers, and 199 distribution transformers of various capacities. Additionally, the company has accomplished 2,256km of 33kV lines and 4,670km of 11kV lines, significantly improving power distribution efficiency. While the projects have been handed over to the utilities, legal assets transfer is ongoing, awaiting valuation by the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC).

Moreover, the NDPHC has not only focused on distribution projects but has also undertaken over 121 transmission line and substation projects to bolster the nation's power transmission infrastructure. With expansion works carried out in 34 Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) substations, and the addition of substations in Enugu, Jos, and Owerri, the transmission capacity has been substantially increased. These achievements have transformed the Nigerian grid into a robust and interconnected system, providing greater redundancy to ensure a stable and reliable power flow throughout the country, a significant advancement made possible by the National Integrated Power Projects (NIPP) initiative.
