National Grid’s new transmission link to feature UK’s first operational T-pylons

10 Aug 2020
ENGLAND, UK - National Grid is building UK's first T-pylon transmission link, which is due to be constructed by the end of July 2021.

The Hinkley Connection Project is a new high-voltage 400 kV overhead line which will run from Hinkley in Somerset to Seabank, near Avonmouth in Bristol, and connect low carbon energy from EDF's Hinkley Point C power station to six million UK homes and businesses, the press release said.

The project also includes construction work on two new substations at Shurton and Sandford.
Once energised, the project will also allow for more capacity on the network for renewable energy from the South West peninsular.
