MR retrofits tap-changer for China’s vital 1100 kV HVDC project

11 May 2020

Maschinenfabrik Reinhausen (MR)'s team in China completed a retrofit project of a tap changer at the Guquan Converter Station, which is part of the State Grid Corporation of China's Changji-Guquan HVDC project.

As a key national construction project in China, Changji-Guquan 1100 kV HVDC is the most important project for the transmission of power from Northwest to East China.

The retrofitting of the 48-pole tap-changer was completed within a month and included remote support of German colleagues from service and engineering, as well as full support and cooperation with SGCC to overcome the challenges posed by the pandemic at the time of the project.
