Mercury NZ’s Wind Farm Receives Key Transformer Components
Two power transformers, each weighing over 100 tonnes and rated at 135 MVA with voltage specifications of 220/33 kV, have been delivered to Mercury NZ's Kaiwera Downs Wind Farm near Gore, New Zealand. These transformers play a crucial role by stepping up the wind farm's 33 kV turbine reticulation voltage to 220 kV transmission voltage, enabling efficient delivery of renewable wind energy to homes and businesses across New Zealand.
The ElectroNet team is responsible for designing and constructing the electrical balance of plant, ensuring safe and efficient connection of the wind farm to the national grid. The transformers' arrival marks a significant milestone in the development of the project. The delivery was facilitated by ELSEWEDY ELECTRIC, the logistics partner for this operation.
