Manitoba-Minnesota transmission line granted Manitoba approval

5 Apr 2019

CANADA, ONTARIO - The Manitoba-Minnesota Transmission Line received environmental licence approval in Manitoba and is now awaiting federal approval.

The transmission line in Manitoba is intended to carry power to Minnesota, where the construction of the 500 kV power line is already underway, reports Winnipeg Sun.

The construction of the Manitoba portion is set to begin once all approvals are in place, with a target of June 2020 for completion.

The power line will also double Manitoba Hydro's import capability, intended to improve reliability in power emergencies and to lower costs of purchased electricity during drought periods.
