Linxon to provide 400 kV substation for the Viking Link

16 Dec 2020
UNITED KINGDOM - National Grid UK has commissioned Linxon to deliver extension work for the Bicker Fen 400 kV AIS substation as part of the Viking Link Interconnector project.

The works will include the extension of double busbars, bus coupler and two interconnector bays, including civil works, the manufacturer said in a press release.
Viking Link is a 1,400 MW HVDC electricity link between the British and Danish transmission systems, connecting the Bicker Fen substation in Lincolnshire, England and the Revsing substation in southern Jutland, Denmark.
The link is a joint venture between the UK's National Grid Ventures and Denmark's Energinet.
The interconnector and the substation works are expected to enable Britain and Denmark to make more effective use of renewable energy sources, increasing access to clean energy and improving the security of electricity supplies for both countries.
The substation works are set to be completed by October 2022.
