Kuwait to Undertake Year-Long Maintenance on Transformer Stations

15 Sep 2025
Kuwait's Ministry of Electricity, Water, and Renewable Energy (MEW) has requested the Central Tenders Bureau to issue a tender for comprehensive civil maintenance at major transformer stations across the country. The initiative targets stations in the northern, central, and southern regions, aiming to improve grid reliability and enhance operational capacity.

The maintenance program, scheduled to run throughout the year, is designed to extend the lifespan of transformer stations while ensuring uninterrupted electricity services. The Ministry emphasized adherence to international standards, with a focus on quality and safety.

In addition to infrastructure upgrades, MEW plans to construct a new emergency management facility in Fahaheel. The facility will include a warehouse and services building to support rapid-response teams during outages, housing spare parts and equipment for efficient mitigation of service disruptions.

The combined measures form part of a broader strategy to modernize Kuwait's electricity grid, improve emergency response, and address rising energy demand. By investing in preventive maintenance and centralized emergency capabilities, the Ministry aims to strengthen the resilience and sustainability of the national electricity network, ensuring consistent and reliable service for consumers.
