Krewe of Thoth Float Mishap Causes Power Outage, Delays Krewe of Bacchus Parade

A festive evening along St. Charles Avenue in New Orleans took an unexpected turn as a Krewe of Thoth parade float inadvertently caused a power outage affecting nearly 300 residents on Sunday. The mishap, which occurred when paper streamers became entangled with a transformer, led to a temporary halt in the celebrations, including a delay in the Krewe of Bacchus parade until power could be restored.

The incident prompted swift action from Entergy crews, who worked diligently to restore power to the affected area at St. Charles and Milan. Text alerts from the city informed residents about the outage and provided updates on the repair progress, with an expected restoration time of approximately 6:10 PM.

This isn't the first time such an occurrence has disrupted Mardi Gras festivities in New Orleans. Last year, a similar incident during the Krewe of Cleopatra parade left 1,500 customers without power. In response, the city implemented measures such as banning Mylar confetti cannons to prevent future incidents.

Despite the setback, the spirit of Mardi Gras perseveres, with power expected to be fully restored by 6:15 PM, allowing the Krewe of Bacchus parade to resume its course along the Uptown route. As the city prepares to continue its revelry, efforts to ensure the safety and smooth flow of festivities remain a top priority for organizers and utility providers alike.
