KPT supplies two power transformers for Agios Nikolaos Energy Complex in Greece

26 Aug 2021

GREECE - Mytilineos has commissioned Končar Power Transformers Ltd. - A Joint Venture of Siemens Energy and Končar (KPT), to supply two power transformers for the 826 MW Agios Nikolaos Energy Complex.

KPT has manufactured and tested two 420 MVA, 420 kV power transformers for Mytilineos, a Greece-based global provider of energy infrastructure construction and utility services.

The two units will be used in the natural gas-fired combined-cycle gas turbine (CCGT) plant Agios Nikolaos Energy Complex in Viotia, central Greece. The energy complex is expected to be one of the biggest and most efficient in Europe, with total installed capacity of 826 MW, the manufacturer said in a media release.

The two power transformers represent a step forward towards energy efficiency and the reduction of greenhouse emissions in Greece. Through this project, KPT is supporting the country's aim towards clean energy through the use of natural gas in the era of green energy solutions, the manufacturer said in a media release.
