Korean power transformer duty rates must be revised again, US Court rules

24 Feb 2020

The U.S. Court of International Trade has ruled that the Commerce Department must once again revise the antidumping duty rates raised on certain large power transformer imports from South Korea.

In a periodic duty review covering power transformers that were imported to the U.S. between August 2013 and July 2014, the Commerce Department originally hit these imports with antidumping duties ranging from 4.07% to 9.4%.

The rates were then further raised and in 2018, in its fifth review, the US government upheld its earlier ruling to set the anti-dumping duty at 60.81 percent on large power transformers manufactured by Hyundai Electric, Hyosung Corp., LSIS and some other manufacturers.

More information to follow.
