Koncar Supplies Transformers for Major U.S. Grid Projects
Koncar, the Croatian electrical equipment manufacturer, has completed three significant contracts in the United States over the past three months through its Instrument Transformers unit.
Under a deal with PacifiCorp, part of the Berkshire Hathaway Group, Koncar delivered 16 transformers rated at 245 kV and 525 kV, including combined CTVT units and station service transformers (SSVT) with up to 167 kVA per phase. These units will be installed at substations in Wyoming, Colorado, and Utah as part of the Energy Gateway project, a large-scale transmission initiative adding over 3,700 km of high-voltage lines to improve renewable energy delivery to major U.S. population centers.
In addition, Koncar executed two contracts with Dominion Energy for the Wishing Star to Mars project in Loudoun County, Virginia. The company supplied multiple station service transformers with rated power up to 250 kVA per phase, supporting the construction of a new 500/230 kV transmission line and two substations. The project, scheduled for completion by the end of 2025, aims to enhance electricity reliability and meet growing demand from high-consumption customers, including data centers.
Koncar did not disclose the contract values but highlighted the strategic importance of these projects in strengthening U.S. transmission infrastructure and integrating renewable energy sources.
