17 Apr 2026
Croatian engineering company Končar – Elektroindustrija d.d. has secured a $28 million (€24 million) contract with Swedish transmission system operator Svenska Kraftnät for the turnkey construction of a high-voltage substation.

The project involves building the Munga substation, a greenfield 400 kV facility in Sweden. According to the company, this marks its largest single contract in the substation construction segment to date, as well as the first greenfield project of this type awarded in the Swedish market.

Končar – Elektroindustrija d.d. has maintained a long-standing presence in Sweden, supplying equipment such as instrument, distribution, and power transformers, and participating in substation construction and modernization projects.

The new contract expands the company’s footprint in Northern Europe and reflects ongoing investments in energy infrastructure across the region, particularly in grid reliability and transmission capacity.

No timeline for project completion or additional financial details were disclosed.
