Koncar – D&ST to Supply Transformers for Mauritius Hydropower Plant

Koncar – D&ST, the Croatian power transformers subsidiary of Koncar, has secured a contract with Mauritius’ national utility, the Central Electricity Board (CEB), to deliver specialized transformers for the Le Val hydropower plant. The plant, located on a hillside, has a total installed capacity of 4 MW with two Turgo-type generator units.
Koncar – D&ST was the only European manufacturer among eight bidders for the project. Factory testing and customer acceptance of the transformers were completed in early November. The units are scheduled for shipment to the Croatian port of Rijeka and then by sea to Port Louis, Mauritius, with delivery expected by the end of 2025.
The project aligns with Mauritius’ energy strategy to increase the share of renewables in its national power system.
