KEPCO and Reinhausen Sign Grid Asset Analytics Technology Transfer Deal
KEPCO and Reinhausen GmbH have signed a technology transfer agreement in Berlin on 20 May 2026 to advance condition-based asset evaluation in power networks. The agreement enables the transfer of selected analytical methodologies from SEDA (Substation Equipment Diagnosis & Analysis System) into Reinhausen’s digital platform TESSA® APM 2.0.
Under the agreement, KEPCO contributes operationally validated evaluation models derived from large-scale transmission and distribution system experience. These methodologies will be embedded into Reinhausen’s asset performance management platform to support structured, data-driven decision-making for utilities.
Speaking on the transition toward digital operations, Geun-Taek Yeo, Vice President at KEPCO, said the utility is shifting its operational model: “Through digitalization, KEPCO is transitioning from a manpower- and experience-based operation model to a more advanced and efficient approach that utilizes data and AI technologies for predictive maintenance, real-time monitoring, and optimized equipment management.”
He also pointed to measurable outcomes achieved through SEDA, noting that “since the introduction of SEDA in 2021, KEPCO has achieved a total of 77 cases of fault prevention through digital asset monitoring and condition assessment by 2025.”
From Reinhausen, Wilfried Breuer, Managing Director Sales at Reinhausen GmbH, emphasized the strategic value of digitalization in utility operations, stating: “Digitalization for us means enabling utilities to make better, faster, and safer decisions across the asset lifecycle.”
The companies describe the cooperation as an industrial transfer of proven methodologies rather than a research initiative, aimed at improving asset reliability, maintenance prioritization, and investment planning in increasingly complex grid environments.
