ISA Energia Invests $46M in Substation and Transmission Infrastructure

23 Apr 2026

Brazilian transmission operator ISA Energia Brasil has announced the launch of its Jacarandá power project, a grid infrastructure development aimed at strengthening electricity supply in the São Paulo region.

The project is expected to generate approximately R$161 million (~$32 million) in annual permitted revenue (RAP), reflecting its role as a regulated transmission asset within Brazil’s power system.

The Jacarandá project includes upgrades and reinforcements at the Água Azul substation, adding around 600 MVA of installed transformation capacity to support growing electricity demand in the Guarulhos area.

With an estimated investment of R$232 million (~$46 million), the project forms part of ISA Energia’s broader strategy to expand and modernise Brazil’s transmission infrastructure.

Transmission projects like Jacarandá operate under regulated revenue frameworks, providing stable, long-term income streams tied to asset availability and performance rather than electricity generation volumes.

The development was awarded through Brazil’s national transmission auction process and is aimed at improving grid reliability, capacity, and integration of renewable energy sources.

Substations and transmission upgrades play a critical role in enabling electricity flow across regions, ensuring that power generated from diverse sources—including renewables—can be efficiently delivered to consumers.

ISA Energia, which operates thousands of kilometres of transmission lines and substations across Brazil, continues to invest in grid expansion as part of the country’s ongoing energy transition and electrification efforts.

The Jacarandá project highlights the growing importance of substation reinforcement and transmission capacity in supporting both economic growth and the integration of cleaner energy into national grids.
