Iraq and Siemens Energy Sign MoU to Expand Power Capacity

The Ministry of Electricity of the Republic of Iraq has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Siemens Energy to collaborate on the modernization and expansion of the country's power infrastructure. The agreement outlines a shared goal of potentially adding up to 14 gigawatts (GW) to Iraq's energy grid.

 

The MoU marks a key milestone in efforts to improve the country's electricity generation capacity and reliability. It aims to combine Iraq's domestic energy resources with Siemens Energy's technological capabilities and global expertise. The partnership is positioned as a long-term collaboration to address Iraq's pressing energy demands and support a transition to a more stable and sustainable power system.

During the visit to Baghdad, [insert name if known, e.g., Tim Holt], a representative of Siemens Energy, met with the local team and emphasized the importance of strong cooperation and long-term planning. The initiative will require ongoing commitment from both parties to succeed.
