Indiana Michigan Power plans $84m power grid upgrade in South Muncie

FORT WAYNE, INDIANA - Indiana Michigan Power (I&M) plans an investment of about $84 million to upgrade the electric transmission network serving customers in Delaware County in eastern Indiana.


The Southern Muncie Area Improvements Project involves upgrading about three miles of 34.5 kV power line to 69 kV standards, building a new Fuson Substation in the commercial park north of West Fuson Road, and upgrading several local substations in Delaware County.

The improvements are aimed to improve electric reliability for I&M customers and support economic development.
