India to set up Power System Development Fund

29 May 2019

INDIA - India's Central Electricity Regulatory Commission (CERC) has issued draft regulations for the Power System Development Fund, intended to tackle the issue of the country's power sector that is struggling with transmission related issues.

The fund when implemented should come as a big boost for stakeholders and implementing agencies tasked with the job of setting up renewable energy as well as conventional power projects in the country, reports Saur Energy.

The funds will be credited to the power system development fund (PSDF) every month and used to finance projects or programs for the creation of necessary infrastructure and necessary transmission systems of strategic importance.

Alternatively, the funds can also be used for installation of electrical equipment to improve voltage profile in the grid as well as for renovation and modernization of transmission and distribution systems, capacity building, etc.
