India’s first synthetic ester oil-filled transformer commissioned

20 Apr 2021
INDIA -- Adani Electricity Mumbai (AEML) has recently commissioned Siemens to supply India's first synthetic ester oil-filled power transformer for its Mumbai transmission network.

The 220 kV 125 MVA power transformer was commissioned by Siemens Kalwa Works in 15 days.
The green unit was commissioned at the 220 kV Borivali EHV substation in north Mumbai, in accordance with required epidemiological safety protocols, AEML said in a press release.
This addition to the transformation capacity at the Borivali EHV substation is expected to strengthen the power transmission and distribution infrastructure, meet incremental load growth in and around Borivali area, and maintain reliable power supply and availability of the transmission system.
"The Installation of ester oil-based transformer once again underlines AEML's commitment for greener future of the city," an AEML spokesperson said. "AEML is already committed to supply 30% of total electricity in its licence area through renewable resources."
