Inch Cape Offshore Limited Receives Largest Offshore AC Transformers for UK Wind Farm

Inch Cape Offshore Limited has reached a major milestone with the arrival of two massive 545 MVA transformers, each weighing 476 tonnes, for their UK offshore wind farm project.

Manufactured by Koncar Power Transformers Ltd. in Zagreb, Croatia, these are the largest AC transformers ever built for a UK offshore wind farm. After traveling through Rotterdam, Netherlands, they arrived at the Smulders yard in Wallsend, UK. The Siemens Energy team will assemble and test the transformers before integrating them into the Offshore Transformer Module® (OTM®). The project benefits from the collaboration of partners such as Sarens and Eastgate Engineering.
