I&M investing in transmission infrastructure reliability in Indiana

4 Dec 2019

Indiana Michigan Power (I&M) is planning a $45 million transmission infrastructure investment in Indiana's Jay County that will consist of a mix of new and rebuilt transmission lines running through east-central Indiana.

The Jay County Area Improvements will include the rebuilding of around eight miles of 138-kV line between Pennville and Dunkirk, and another two miles of 69-kV line heading north from Portland. Another nine miles of 69-kV line will be built to connect northern Portland and Pennville.

The project also involves upgrading two substations in the region.

Once completed, the improvements should lead to increased reliability of the local system, lessen power outages, and speed recovery.
