I&M to invest $14m on rebuild project in Fort Wayne, Ind.

17 Sep 2020
American Electric Power's Indiana Michigan Power (I&M) plans to invest about $14 million on the McKinley - West State Transmission Line Rebuild Project in order to ensure safe and reliable electric service for customers in western Fort Wayne, Ind.

The project involves updating about three miles of transmission line and upgrading a substation, reports Transmission Hub.
The improvements are designed to strengthen the local electric transmission system; reduce the likelihood of power outages, and speed recovery of service when outages occur.
Construction is slated to occur summer 2021 to fall 2022, with the project placed in service in fall 2022, and restoration activities complete in spring 2023.
