Hydro One replaces two transformers as part of $30m investment in power reliability upgrades

8 Oct 2020
ONTARIO, CANADA - Hydro One announced a $30-million infrastructure investment to strengthen power reliability to local distribution companies in the Kitchener-Waterloo, Cambridge and Guelph regions.

As part of the first stage of infrastructure upgrades, the company replaced a transformer from the 1950s at Detweiler Transmission Station and energized it in August 2020.
Work has already started on the second stage, which will include replacing a second transformer at the site and upgrading 6 miles of a high-voltage power transmission line, including upgrading towers and insulators.
