Hundreds of damaged distribution lines to be rebuilt in Oklahoma

6 Jun 2019

Northwestern Electric Cooperative, Inc. (NWEC) and Renewable Energy Systems (RES) have partnered to repair and rebuild 380 miles of distribution line in Oklahoma that were damaged or destroyed by ice storms in 2017.

The 14.4 and 7.2 kV distribution lines are located in the northwest parts of Oklahoma, in a 50-mile radius southwest of Woodward, reports T&D World.

The repair work began in April 2019 and the rebuild is scheduled for completion in March 2020.

NWEC incurred roughly $21 million of damage to its electrical infrastructure during the 2017 storms. While the lines were repaired to restore power after the storms, the company is now focused on building resilience for the future.
