Howard Industries Launches $236M Expansion Across Mississippi
Howard Industries is investing $236.95 million to expand operations across Clarke, Jones, and Simpson counties in Mississippi, a move expected to create 450 new jobs over the next five years.
The expansion aims to help the company meet rising demand for power infrastructure, particularly from sectors such as data centers, electric vehicles, and transportation, while also aligning with new U.S. Department of Energy standards for transformers.
Founded in 1968, Howard Industries is a global manufacturer of distribution transformers and related technology products. The company operates more than 14 locations in Mississippi and employs over 4,000 workers.
The Mississippi Development Authority (MDA) is supporting the project with assistance from the Mississippi Flexible Tax Incentive (MFLEX) program, and funding for infrastructure improvements, land acquisition, and construction. The boards of supervisors in Clarke, Jones, and Simpson counties are also contributing local support.
This is the first major job announcement in Mississippi since May and reflects broader trends in manufacturing investment throughout the region.
