Hitachi Energy has announced a substantial investment exceeding €80 million (approximately $87 million) to expand its transformer operations in Spain. This initiative forms part of the company's larger $1.5 billion global expansion aimed at accelerating the clean energy transition. The investment will not only enhance the Power Transformers facility in Cordoba but also create up to 75 new jobs in the region.

The expansion will increase the Cordoba facility's size to over 32,000 square meters, incorporating process enhancements to optimize performance and boost global manufacturing capacity. The mayor of Cordoba and other regional authorities have expressed their support for the project, emphasizing its potential for local employment and investment.

Operational since 1930, the Cordoba facility is a cornerstone of Hitachi Energy's manufacturing network in Europe, specializing in the company's TrafoStar global core technology platform and shell transformers. The investment will also extend operations to include the production of shunt reactors, complementing existing activities in Galindo, Bilbao.

Hitachi Energy highlights that transformers are crucial for electrical grid efficiency, enabling the integration of clean energy sources and the electrification of industries. The Cordoba factory has historically served leading power generation and transmission operators across Europe, North America, and beyond, significantly contributing to Spain's high-voltage transmission network and renewable energy integration.
