Hitachi Energy has announced a significant investment exceeding 30 million euros (approximately $32 million) in the expansion and modernization of its power transformer manufacturing facility located in Bad Honnef, Germany. The expansion project is not only poised to enhance the facility's operational capacity but also promises to generate up to 100 new employment opportunities in the region. Bruno Melles, Managing Director of Business Unit Transformers at Hitachi Energy, emphasized the crucial role of electricity in the evolving energy landscape, stating, "Electricity will be the backbone of our entire energy system." He underscored the necessity for a substantial increase in power generation and transmission capacity by 2050 to support the burgeoning demand, thereby highlighting the importance of expanding manufacturing capabilities.
With an expanded footprint exceeding 15,000 square meters, coupled with streamlined processes, the upgraded Bad Honnef facility is poised to enhance operational efficiency and meet the surging demand for power transformers.
